Bonnier Zaffre announces double acquisition from bestselling Irish author Anna McPartlin

Bonnier Zaffre is set to publish Anna McPartlin across both their adult and children’s fiction lists in 2019.

Jane Harris, Executive Director, Children’s Fiction and Kate Parkin, Executive Director Bonnier Zaffre, acquired World English Language rights from Sheila Crowley at Curtis Brown.

With her trademark combination of laughter and tears, Anna McPartlin’s new novel features the much-loved characters from her bestseller The Last Days of Rabbit Hayes in a beautiful, tender and genuinely funny portrayal of a family broken by grief but held together by love.

Eleanor Dryden, Publishing Director Bonnier Zaffre said: “We are overjoyed that the huge talent that is Anna McPartlin is joining Bonnier Zaffre. Her new novel, currently untitled, had the whole office sobbing, and then laughing through their tears. This book is the most beautiful, tender and genuinely funny portrayal of a family broken to pieces by grief but put back together by love, and their individual and collective journeys through saying goodbye to a daughter, sister, mother, best friend; while celebrating and remembering her; and each finding their own ultimately uplifting, often hilarious, and perfectly human ways to move on.  We can’t wait to get started working with Anna who is, quite simply, a joy.”

Georgia Murray, Editor, Piccadilly Press said: “This bighearted and outlandishly funny middle grade story by Bannie McPartlin is a classic in the making and we are so thrilled to be bringing Bannie and her enormous talent to the Piccadilly list. She captures, with huge authenticity and energy, the voices of an irrepressible gang of twelve-year-old friends who find themselves in the middle of the most complicated summer of their lives. Both page-turning, exciting, heist story and a deeply moving tale of friendship and community, this love letter to childhood, family and Ireland has extraordinary bathos, humour and wry observation, and a heart of pure gold.”

The middle grade children’s novel, pitched as Roddy Doyle meets The Italian Job is set to publish in May 2019 publishing under Bannie McPartlin on the Piccadilly Press imprint.
