Bonnier Books UK has received six nominations for the 2024 British Book Awards, with the trade category shortlists revealed earlier today.
Satoshi Yagisawa’s international sensation Days at the Morisaki Bookshop has been nominated for Book of the Year – Debut Fiction. It caps a remarkable year for the title, which has sold over 125,000 copies to date and was named a Waterstones Best Paperback of 2023. Manilla Press recently announced that the sequel More Days at the Morisaki Bookshop will publish this summer.
There was also a nod for Sunny Singh’s acclaimed A Bollywood State of Mind in the Book of the Year – Discover category. An unrivalled celebration of Bollywood cinema and its hold on the international imagination, it marks the very first Nibbies nomination for disruptive publisher Footnote Press.
Ciara Lloyd, publishing director at Blink and John Blake, has been shortlisted for Editor of the Year following a stellar twelve months which included the publication of Boy George’s bestselling Karma.
Art Director Nick Stearn is in the running for Designer of the Year, with judges flagging his work on the likes of Lynda La Plante, Wilbur Smith, and SJ Bennett.
Adult Rights Director Stella Giatrakou has been recognised in the Rights Professional of the Year category, praised in particular for her innovation.
And finally, the International Sales team is in contention for The British Book Award for Export – the team’s fifth nomination in the category, and third successive year on the shortlist.
Winners will be announced at the ceremony at Grosvenor House, London on Monday 13th May.
