Bonnier Books UK appoints Alanna Feldman Scouting as literary scout

Bonnier Books UK has appointed Alanna Feldman Scouting as its literary scout, covering both the adult and children’s trade business.

Alanna Feldman Scouting is a full-service literary scouting firm that was established in 2017, and now has offices in both New York and Los Angeles. They pride themselves on passionate and personal service, which perfectly matches Bonnier Books UK’s values and editorial vision.

Alanna Feldman and her team have been scouting for Bonnier Books UK since October 2024, and since then have already helped the editorial teams in acquiring several high-profile projects including Caroline Darian’s I’ll Never Call Him Dad Again (WEL rights were acquired by Carole Tonkinson at LEAP), Overdue by Stephanie Perkins (UK & Comm rights won at auction by Melissa Cox for Zaffre), The Lies That Summon The Night by Tessonja Odette (UK & Comm rights pre-empted in a 6-figure 3-book deal by Kelly Smith for Zaffre), and Coffeeshop in an Alternate Universe by C.B. Lee (UK & Comm rights, acquired by Jenny Jacoby for Hot Key Books).

Sarah Benton, co-CEO at Bonnier Books UK, said, “We have seen an instant impact in our acquiring since taking on AFS as our scouts. Alanna and her brilliant team have invested so much time in getting to know the specific taste of our editors and have matched many projects with them directly in just six months, as the very best scouts do. Both the adult and children’s teams have loved working with AFS in the short time so far, and I know they will play a big part in our growth plans in the UK and English Language market over the next few years. We couldn’t be happier to be working together.”

Helen Wicks, MD of Children’s Trade at Bonnier Books UK, said, “We’re delighted to have AFS supporting our journey. On the children’s side, we’ve loved working with Hannah Ekren, whose impeccable instincts, impressive productivity, and warm, co-operative style have already made a significant contribution to the way we operate. AFS swiftly grasped the distinct preferences of our editorial staff, connecting them with inspiring opportunities in a remarkably short timeframe – which is what sets truly outstanding scouting apart. It’s been fantastic collaborating to date, and we eagerly anticipate their ongoing involvement.”

Alanna Feldman, of AFS, said, “Working with Bonnier Books UK has been an absolute delight. With the incredible Sarah Benton at the helm, their clarity of vision, impeccable taste, strong leadership, and the contagious energy and kindness of their team make them an ideal partner. My team and I are truly thrilled to be part of their growth journey moving forward.”
