Matt Phillips, publisher for Blink, has acquired world rights for two new action-adventure thrillers from ex-special-forces soldier, TV-star and no.1 bestselling author Matthew ‘Ollie’ Ollerton, in a major deal from David Riding at MBA Literary Agency.
The first book in the series, Scar Tissue, published at the end of last year (2020) and introduced the world to flawed hero: Alex Abbott, an ex-special forces soldier with a troubled past. The next instalment, All or Nothing, will publish in November this year (2021) and takes Ollerton’s self-styled character to the North of England and Eastern Europe as he infiltrates an international child-trafficking gang. The third book in the series will publish in 2022.
Based out of real-life experiences, Alex Abbott reflects Ollie’s life and his Special Forces experiences.
Ollerton said: ‘Having carried out anti-child trafficking charity work in South-East Asia, this is a subject that is close to my heart. I’ve spent my post-military life trying to help others. Telling stories of resilience, struggle and personal transformation in fiction form is another way to do that.’
Phillips said: ‘Ollie is a natural storyteller, he’s been there, seen it and got the flak jacket. His stories are filled with action, moral quandaries and more twists than an entire series of SAS: Who Dare Wins. We love working collaboratively with Ollie and look forward to developing Alex Abbott into a much-admired fiction strand with a loyal readership.’
Books from the stars of SAS: Who Dares Wins have now sold over 1 million copies through TCM, and Ollerton was the first to launch a series of fiction titles based on his experience on the front lines. His two previous books, Break Point and Battle Ready, have both been Sunday Times bestsellers, with Break Point going to number one in the chart.
