Bonnier Books UK has appointed Juliet Rogers as m.d. of its Sydney- based publisher, Echo Publishing.
Rogers has more than thirty years’ experience leading publishing businesses in both New Zealand and Australia, including Random House and Murdoch Books. She has chaired the publisher associations in both countries and was the inaugural chair of the book trade’s charity, the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and vice-chair of the Australian Copyright Council.

She has decades of experience across the industry, both in Australia and New Zealand and internationally and her experience working as a bookseller, publisher and four years at the helm of the Australia Society of Authors has given her a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities for publishers and authors alike. As well as being a publisher of staggering calibre, Juliet is also a passionate advocate for diversity, inclusion and representation – I cannot imagine a better candidate for this role and I’m excited for the next phase of Echo’s growth under her leadership.”
Rogers said: “It’s a dream come true to be offered the chance to once again experience the joy of publishing. After my time at the ASA, I have a much deeper understanding of the challenges that face authors, and I am excited to be able to provide the opportunity for some new voices to join the wonderful writers we already have on the list. To take over from someone who is both my friend and colleague for so many years, is the icing on the cake, as is working with the Bonnier Books UK team who not only proudly lead the industry on the important issues of diversity and sustainability, but also genuinely commit to providing an international platform for our authors. I’m really looking forward to working with the fantastic teams at Bonnier and Echo to grow our ANZ business further.”
Rogers replaces Bernadette Agius who was appointed general manager of Echo in 2018.
Mann added: “Benny and her team have worked incredibly hard to build the Echo list over the last couple of years and we thank her for the humour and joy of friendship that she has extended to her authors and all of us as a colleagues. We will miss her.”
Rogers will take up her new position on 1 November 2021, reporting into Mann.
