A new imprint focusing on inspiring and informing positive change has been launched today by Bonnier Books UK.
LEAP will be led by Carole Tonkinson, who moves from Editor-at-Large to Publisher of LEAP. The list will include but is not limited to lifestyle and wellbeing books: it will feature cultural conversations, highlight important issues and platform individuals who are beacons of hope and change. The list, launching next month, will take the place of Lagom.
The LEAP list speaks to our need to grow and change both as individuals and the need for positive, collective change. The books will be defined as much by attitude as by subject matter: they are united by an optimistic stance, and informed by experts but peer-to-peer in tone.
Carole Tonkinson said: “We don’t simply think ourselves into transformation. We must risk and be willing let go of the known. The world needs a leap of faith right now and LEAP encourages all of us to launch ourselves into our own next step or direction.
“Coming up with the colophon was easy. LEAP is also the collective noun for leopards who can leap six metres forward in a single bound. We are more capable than we know as individuals and collectively and the titles on the list speak to that.”
LEAP content areas will include memoir, psychology, parenting, cookery, soft business, activism, parenting, health, self-help, spirituality and inspirational gift.
Confirmed titles include:
- I’ll Never Call Him Dad Again by Caroline Darian, the daughter of Gisele Pelicot, which is an agenda-setting, headline-driving memoir aiming to raise the profile of ‘chemical submission’.
- Letter From Japan by Marie Kondo, an authentic, rooted celebration of Japanese tradition and philosophy that can enhance our lives and our world.
- Thread by Hannah Marsh, a conversation-changing look at the myth, mystery and medical misogyny of Caesarean Section.
- Fawning by psychologist Ingrid Clayton, an exploration of the forgotten fourth trauma response.
Sarah Benton, Managing Director of Adult Trade, said: “We have loved seeing LEAP develop and are so excited to start to publish its first titles. The imprint will take a bespoke approach to each book, focussing on ‘new needs’, emerging audiences and markets. Carole is the epitome of a LEAP title herself and has sparked so much change across the whole of Bonnier Books UK already. I look forward to continuing to work with her and the team, ‘leaping’ towards an exciting future.”
