Dan Herron will be joining Bonnier Books UK as Head of Contracts & Business Affairs (Adult Trade) from February 2025, the publisher
The position, a newly formed leadership role for the department, was created due to the growth of the UK business over recent years. The contracts team will now be split along the business area lines of Adult and Children’s publishing, with Dan overseeing all things Adult Trade.
Jonathan Perdoni, CFO/COO of Bonnier Books UK, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Dan into this newly created role. He is a highly experienced and effective contracts specialist and I am confident that his appointment will have a hugely positive impact. The refreshed structure and renewed investment in this vital team, who worked tirelessly throughout a very busy 2024, will ensure that it can continue to serve the needs of the business effectively.”
Herron joins Bonnier Books UK from Hachette UK and is also a veteran of two high-profile London literary agencies and a West End production house. He has extensive experience working successfully with agents, authors, publishers, production companies and brands.
He worked at literary agencies Curtis Brown (books, book-to-film) and PFD (books, broadcast) before joining West End producer Sonia Friedman Productions in 2019, where he worked in their business affairs supporting their general management team as Contracts Manager. He returned to the publishing industry in 2022 when he joined Hachette UK, supporting their Orion division as Senior Contracts Manager for most of his tenure there.
Commenting on his appointment, Herron said: “It’s been an enormous privilege supporting Orion’s editors and working with the Contracts & Business Affairs team at Hachette UK under Anniina Vuori over the last few years. I am beyond thrilled to now be joining Bonnier Books UK at such an important moment for the business, as I’ve long admired the work of their publishing team and their growing list of talented authors and audience-focused titles. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and pitch in.”
In the new structure, Nicholas Watson will oversee the Children’s side of the business, in the newly formed role of Head of Contracts & Business Affairs (Children’s).
Dan can be contacted from 10 February 2025 on [email protected] and will be working from the new London office in HYLO, EC1Y.
